Akon Sparks Riot In Sri Lanka

Four people have been injured at a Sri Lankan broadcaster's headquarters after Buddhist protesters campaigning against an upcoming Akon concert hurled rocks at the building.

Promoters of the R&B singer's April concert in the capital city of Colombo have come under fire from locals, who have taken offense to his video "Sexy Chick", which features groups of near-naked women dancing at a pool party in front of a Buddha statue.

Around 200 angry Sri Lankans gathered outside the head office of the Maharaja Organisation, which is sponsoring the star's gig, holding up posters reading 'Stop Akon's show', and demonstrating their fury by smashing windows and causing damage to cars parked outside the building.

Four network employees were hurt in Monday's riot, according to Maharaja boss Chevan Daniel.

Police have confirmed a number of the protesters were taken into custody, although it is not clear if they will face any charges.

Lil Wayne Banned From Signing Autographs In Prison

Incarcerated rapper Lil Wayne has reportedly been ordered not to sign any autographs during his time in jail.

The hip-hop star was sentenced to a year in prison on weapons possession charges this week and began serving his time at New York's Rikers Island prison on Monday.

However, officials at the institution have instructed the "Lollipop" hit-maker to avoid publicizing his celebrity status while he is in jail and banned him from signing autographs for other inmates, according to TMZ.com. A representative for the Correction Officer's Benevolent Association tells the website the decision was made because "Lil Wayne is not a celebrity in here.

How to Love Consciously

Knowing how someone wants to be loved and then providing that love are two separate things. Sometimes marriages and other relationships end because either one person does not understand how to love or meet the needs of the other; or one partner refuses to meet the needs of the other.
To love consciously is a choice. Mary Beth and I often say being married is very similar to having another full-time job – you get out of it what you put into it.
Our marriage is like a savings account. My wife and I make deposits into it never expecting we may need to make a withdrawal. However, when we do request a withdrawal there are no associated penalties.
Yes, we argue over the temperature in the car or who really forgot to feed the dog, but when it really matters; when it really counts, we make the consciousness choice to give each other the love that is requested and needed.
With over 23 years of marriage under our belts, we have found the following strategies work best to love intentionally; to love authentically and to love consciously.

Show Appreciation

A simple “thank you” in response to a trivial or ordinary item can make a significant difference. It only takes a few short moments to utter these two words, but the impact can be felt for a very long time.
Showing gratitude is also the best strategy for ensuring the things you are most grateful for continue to happen. When we stop and tell our partners what we are grateful for, we are also telling the Universe. By making the effort, the conscious decision, to express our thanks we are in a better position of receiving more of it in the future.
If you want your partner to be grateful, it starts by you showing gratitude, first.

Be Happy, Not Right

Here’s a question for you, “Would you rather be right, or happy?” Too often our pride and egos can keep us from enjoying intimate relationships. We stew over what we think are injustices, but are perhaps only misunderstandings.
We carry grudges and do not show enough grace, passion or forgiveness to the person we care most about. Our need to be right can overshadow our need to receive, and give, love.
Take a look at what your pride is costing you. If intimacy is strained and the relationship is off track you may want to reconsider the value of your anger or self righteousness. Here’s the thing: You may be right in the argument although you partner thinks otherwise, but you will never be wrong when you put your partner first. Happiness always feels better than vindication.

Michael Jackson Music Deal Shatters Records

Michael Jackson just scored the biggest contract in music history and he's not even alive to see it - one that could be worth up to $250 million with incentives.
His estate will earn $200 million guaranteed for 10 projects in seven years. The landmark contract extends through 2017 and could pay his estate much more.
One of the albums will be of never-before-released Jackson recordings that will come out in November. Enough unreleased material may exist for 2-3 albums.
Projects may also include a video game, a DVD compilation of videos and a re-release of Off the Wall, Jackson's fifth studio album, which debuted back in '79.
Before Jackson's tragic death in June at age 50, he wanted to re-issue the album, people familiar with the deal said. Now he's getting his wish, posthumously.
One project already counted in the contract was a two-disc album that accompanied This Is It, the film based on footage of Jackson's 2009 concert rehearsals.
Perfecto
Michael Jackson announcing the 2009 This Is It tour.
Including the more than 5 million copies of that special release, Jackson sold some 31 million albums since his death, about two-thirds of them outside the U.S.
"During his life, Michael's contracts set the standard for the industry," said John Branca, the co-administrator of the Jackson estate, in a statement Tuesday.
"By all objective criteria, this agreement with Sony Music demonstrates the lasting power of Michael's music by exceeding all previous industry benchmarks."
The landmark contract is worth more than all other benchmarks, such as the deals Live Nation signed with Madonna at $120 million and Jay-Z for $150 million.
Jackson's deal is more remarkable because it does not include royalties from merchandise, and comes at a time of widespread decline for the industry.

The world's embattled top golfer, Tiger Woods, announced today that he's planning his golf comeback at the year's first major championship, The Masters, in April. It will mark Woods' return to golf action for the first time since a 9-iron was wielded by his crazed wife after his many infidelities were exposed Thanksgiving eve.
Tiger announced the news on his website: "The Masters is where I won my first major, and I view this tournament with great respect. After a long and necessary time away from the game, I feel like I'm ready to start my season at Augusta."
"The major championships have always been a special focus in my career and I think Augusta is where I need to be, even though it's been awhile since I last played."
Woods has already started prepping for his return with Ari Fleischer behind the scenes, and briefly alluded to his ongoing rehab and reconciliation with Elin Woods, saying:
"I have undergone almost two months of therapy, and am continuing treatment. While I'm returning to competition, I still have a lot of work to do in my personal life."
Tiger, who did not have a return date in his recent press conference, added in today's post that it became "apparent that the Masters would be the earliest I could play."
"I called both Joe Lewis and Arnold Palmer and expressed regret for not attending the Tavistock Cup and the Arnold Palmer Invitational. I want to thank them for their support. Those are fantastic tournaments I look forward to competing in again.
In conclusion, Woods thanked the people ofThe Masters: "I would also like to thank the Augusta National members and staff. I have deep appreciation for everything that they do to create a wonderful event for the benefit of the game."
The Masters begins on April 8. We wouldn't bet against him.

MY DAILY LIFE: Mar.8-14: Chris Brown Pleads With Fans To Help Revive His Career

MY DAILY LIFE: Mar.8-14: Chris Brown Pleads With Fans To Help Revive His Career

Psquare, MI, Banky, Others Condemn Jos Crisis

A host of musicians and entertainers have gone on social networking site Twitter to condemn in strong terms the security crisis rocking Jos, Plateau state.
The crisis which over the years has become a recurring decimal in the city of Jos is far from solved. Not after more than 500 were killed again over the weekend in what appeared a sequel to an equally bloody incident in January 2010.

Singer Banky W wrote on his official twitter page: ‘Damn it all. I’m speechless and in shock at the evil that men can do. Hundreds dead, mostly women and children. Human lives!!

Peter Okoye of Psquare wrote; ‘‘God please help my people and stop the crisis in Jos plateau state……for Christ sake this is where we grew’’.

Chocolate city rapper Ice Prince Zamani who is a native of the troubled state also wrote on his official twitter page ; ‘‘A corpse may seem like a log of wood until that of your relation is being carried.’’

Singer Djinee who last week fell victim to armed robbers shared an email address on his Twitter page, encouraging his followers to send in pictures they have of the Jos incident. ‘‘I don’t know if this’ll work but it’s one of the many steps being taken by Nigerians to see that this doesn’t happen again or spread to other states’’.

Bestselling rapper MI also took time out to express his sadness at the Jos killings saying; ‘‘As the pictures from Jos come out… Our voices rise!!! Let’s have a forum about what the youth can do right now on twitter!!!’’.

It will be recalled that the city of Jos in Plateau state has been an arena for sectarian and political unrest for a long time; it is frightening that the appetite for blood-letting is increasing each year from 2004, 2008 and the most recent occurrence.

Jos is home to top Nigerian artistes like Psquare, Ice Prince Zamani , M.I and younger brother Jesse Jagz. But it’s not only artistes with strong links to Jos that are complaining and seeking ways to stop the violence. Singer Etcetera released a single last month titled ‘Ring the alarm’. He says the song is dedicated to victims of the Jos violence. ‘How many more will have to die?’ Etcetera asks on the song, which is getting many thinking and making some uncomfortable.

Rooftop MCs, Sound Sultan, 2face Idibia (who also has links to Jos) and others are also hurting over the Jos situation; keen to be of help and rally colleauges to ‘do something positive’.

Mar.8-14: Chris Brown Pleads With Fans To Help Revive His Career

Sad news is in abundance this week, starting with the former prince of pop Chris Brown. Brown, who has been vying for a way to revitalize his career following his 2009 assault on ex-girlfriend Rihanna, has resorted to desperate measures to stage his comeback.
The 20-year-old singer-dancer, who plead guilty to felony assault and is on probation for five years, recorded an audio message Wednesday on Say Now asking his fans to "bring [him] back." A humbled Brown said he needs his fans' help. "Some radio stations aren't playing my records," he said. "They're not being that supportive and I wouldn't expect them to. But it's on the fans...It's in your power to bring me back."
Brown said he is doing everything he can do. He refers to himself as a "better person" and said he is doing his music for the love, but added that his career is in jeopardy.
"It won't be possible for me to be an artist if I don't have support from people who give me an artist outlet," Brown said. "I can't be an underground mixtape artist."
Brown sounds stressed out. After releasing two previously successful albums, it has got to be tough experiencing such a decline in support for his current album, Graffiti.
I know it's been a year since the incident, he has accepted his sentence, and was previously praised by the judge for following through with his community service, but he needs to relax. It is going to take some time for him to repair his reputation. He needs to be patient. He just re-emerged on Twitter at @ChrisBrown and is keeping it positive so far. He Tweeted about reading to 3rd grade students at a school in Harlem. This feels like a better plan. Releasing a new album just eight months after the altercation was just too soon.

My married life is pure bliss: Stephnora Jacob-Lampinen

Stephnora Jacob-Lampinen did not make the AMAA nominations this year, but the beautiful, young, talented actress seems undeterred and looks to the future with bright hope. She reads lines differently from her counterparts, a little softer here, a little louder there. And you don’t get the sense that she hesitates to say or do much of anything on camera, making her an exotic form of clay for most directors. The newly married Stephnora Jacob, now Stephnora Jacob-Lampinen sits down for a chat with EBERE NDUKWU. Enjoy!

Your resume has an incredibly diverse mixture of TV, Radio and film.

Yeah, I’ve had a really interesting career doing what I love and making a living through it. It’s very rare that many of us in the industry go from one thing to the other as much as I’ve been lucky to have done.

Let’s talk about stage, film and television in comparative term.

They’re all very different. You’re doing exactly the same thing, very differently. In film, there’s always this discussion of rehearsal, but as actors know who their characters are, what they wear, how they live, what their relationships are with their scene partners, you can just have the actors play the scene with the camera running and capturing something that nobody could have constructed beforehand. The capturing of an image that film does, that’s what makes movies magical. Television is similar, but at a much faster pace. You have to turn things around very quickly in television. So it’s doing the same thing, but with very different tools and rhythms.

When and how did you come into acting?

It’s hard to say, ever since I was a little kid back in school, I have been involved in drama. So, I loved it back then, and watching lots of movies, I decided I wanted to make a career in acting.

What type of story interests you?

A story with moral lessons; which inspires and encourages.

Let’s talk about actors who are also directors, Is their understanding of the craft more intimate, which provides a kind of shorthand between the director and the cast?

I might be wrong you know, but I have to be completely honest here. I like a director who directs, I like an actor who acts. An actor can make a brilliant director, but I don’t think it’s so great when actors direct. If the actor is not a member of the cast in the movie, and is just directing, then that’s okay, but if the actor is a member of the cast and as well the director, that’s not so great, it’s my opinion.

But even as an actress, you also write and produce, so what’s the difference between a producer and a director?

There’s a lot of difference between the producer and the director; the director is the creative vision behind the movie. He determines the music, has a say in casting, consults in scripting, and also consults in editing.
Depending on the scale of the production, the producer usually gathers together the money, and makes sure things run smoothly on the business side of the movie. On some large scale studio productions, the producer will hire the director and wields power over him, whereas some independent filmmakers will either be their own producer or will work in tandem with a producer so the filmmaker will only have to be bothered with the creative side of things and not the bookkeeping. In most cases, the producer is same as the executive producer. A good producer will work with the director’s creative ideas and not just wield powers.

Challenges as an actress

As an actress, you are expected to be your best at all times. People seem to forget that actors are just ordinary people like everyone else, who just interpret characters on screen. Sometimes actors are seen to be as bad as the characters they play in a movie, or as good as the characters they play.

Aside acting what else do you do?

TV,radio and MC. My sister once joked about me being in love with the MIC (laughs)

Are you comfortable as an actress?

Yeah! Very comfortable.

How payable is acting job?

You and I know that show business is the fastest money spinning industry in the world, this might not be the case in Nigeria, because a lot of things are yet to be put in place, like film funding and all that, so far nobody earns same as Angelina Jolie or Nicole Kidman, but we are all comfortable.

What can you boast of as an actress?

I can boast of my amazing life, I have a family who loves me, I am blessed with good friends who have been there for me through the good and bad times, life is so beautiful and I couldn’t ask for more!

People refer Nollywood movies as being quantity and not quality what’s your reaction?

Are they still saying that?, well with the recent turn out of quality movies coming out of Nollywood, be it by Nigerians in the Diaspora or Nigerians at home, I don’t think anyone should say that anymore. We work so hard in this industry, funding is a big problem, it is the only reason why anyone would make a low quality movie.

What determines the role you play?

The script. I’ve done crap movies in the past, and now, it’s a no-no.

Are there scripts you can turn down?

Sure! I want to make couple of movies in a year, but I don’t want to make lots of bad movies in a year, and the only way I can do that is if I check the quality of scripts I take on.

Can you play nude?

Absolutely not.

Do you see Nollywood challenging Hollywood and Bollywood someday?

I do … why not? I see a Nollywood film making it to the Oscars someday.

Do you watch the movies you featured in?

That’s imperative, that’s the best way to deal with most of the criticisms from movie critics, even though most times the criticisms are just not constructive. But I watch my movies to see how good or bad I did.

Some up-coming actresses don’t mind getting a role by trading sex, what’s your reaction to that?

That’s degrading. If you think yourself talented enough to be in the industry, then you don’t need to grease anybody’s palms in whichever way.

Do you think you’ve hit the limelight?

Yes, but more as a TV presenter than an actress, so I’m still looking forward to the big break (laughs)

How can you assess Nollywood Directors?

Directors get too much credit when a movie goes right and too little blame when a movie goes wrong. There are certain directors, however, who get credit even when movies go wrong, I call them overrated directors. But there are Nollywood directors that always have my heart, because they understand the business of film making, and they combine their creativity and wealth of knowledge to churn out real interesting movies.

You abandoned law for acting, any regrets?

No. I am happy with the decisions I made, I love what I do, and there isn’t anything as cool as job satisfaction.

How can you define love?

Love is not an action; it is a moment made of many moments. Its heart-wrenching, air gasping, devastating yet so beautiful and strikes our curiosity. It can bring you up from the lowest points of despair and can bring you straight back down. It is not simply ‘I love you’, it is the actions implied, it is forever and for always, it is a moment in time made of many moments in time, it is a life time gift passed on through the generations, it is one true and honest aspect of humanity. It is a beautiful, understood need, want and fulfilment, that makes humans whole. To love means to protect and provide. God’s word even points that out.

How do you measure love?

Love is not measured by how much we do for someone else, but how much we give up for them. If you want to measure your love, you must consider how much you have given up for someone else. Christ Himself has told us "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends" (John 15:13). You and I will not ever grow in love unless we grow in the laying down of our own lives. Greater love means greater sacrifice. If there is no sacrifice, there is likely no love.

You got married recently, how different is your married life from when you were single?

Oh… you know before I got married, after a hard day, I can just take a shower and ‘plop’ on the bed, and take my much needed sleep. But now, I have someone to share my daily activities with, so it’s much more fun, and I married my best friend, so we have a great life, it’s pure bliss.

Let’s talk about your husband Aaron Lampinen. He is an American, and he doesn’t live in Nigeria. Being married to him means you have to leave your country, your career, family and friends and move to the United States, is that very easy for you?

Its not … when you love someone, you make sacrifices, you give up some things. But I’m not giving up my career (laughs)… my husband wouldn’t want me to do that. That’s why I always come back to Nigeria regularly for work and to visit family and friends.

Have you ever had heartbreak before?

Who hasn’t? But it was no ‘biggie’. I always get on with my life.

Have you broken anybody’s heart before?

I don’t know, definitely not intentional if ever I did.

How do you measure incompatibility in a relationship?

Being right for each other is more about having a "fit" of your personality, habits, and things you think are most important.

What can bring tears to your eyes?

Anything, it could be something nobody would pay attention to, it could be just anything, it’s hard to pinpoint.

Where do you see yourself in the next 10 years?

Next 10 years… wow! I look to the future with great hope, I am a very optimistic person and I believe in myself, so I think by God’s grace, 10 years from now, I’ll be a better person in all aspects of my life.

Are you disappointed with this year’s AMAA nominations?

No, it’s cool.

Who among the nominees for best actor and best actress in a leading role do you think should win?

I always say, "let the best man win". Being nominated is like winning, there are many talented actors, so I think anyone nominated should be happy.

Role models

I always admire Angelina Jolie, and Joke Silva.

Tall men thrill me–Nollywood actress, Adaora Ukoh

Adaora Ukoh has carved a niche for herself in Nollywood, her big size notwithstanding. She told us that she is so busy to have time for her numerous male admirers because of her projects. Though, she is not in love at the moment, Adaora confesses that tall men thrill her. She spoke further:

Movie industry
I have noticed that the movie industry has gone beyond acting, it is about branding. I have a TV programme called Divas Dynasty to promote women who are outstanding in their chosen fields and have worthy stories to tell. The programme also empowers the youth in Nigeria. I am also putting plans together to run my fashion line called ADAORA for plus size individuals. It would kick off with women first.

Raising funds
Divas Dynasty is already in motion. I have shot over 11 episodes and hopefully, it would go on air soon. Raising funds for the fashion label is no problem because the designer is a friend. That makes the job a bit easier. I am projecting the image of the fashion line now but the funds would come in through the official launch. It would be a patnership thing. Anybody I partner with will contribute to my dream as well as I would. The label would be launched during my birthday in April.

Early days in Nollywood
It was not too tough, though I started as as a teenager in 1997. I am a very bold person and that helped me get into the movie industry because I felt I could do anything I wanted. My size gave me an upper hand then because I looked older than my age mates. It was like a joke. I was using it to while away time before I gained admission into the university as I just completed secondary school. I took a break from the industry to study Law at the University of Lagos. When I came back, I discovered the industry had moved and a lot had changed. Making acting a professional job was where the real challenges started. It was more of a stiff competition but then, I was able to pull through.

Did you feel like quitting at any point?
Yes. At that point, the industry didn’t want to accept the plus size woman. They felt I didn’t fit into some of the roles in movies. This situation kept taking roles away from me. But a few people who believed in me gave me roles and I built my career again. So far, so good.

What keeps you going?
My passion for the job keeps me on because my life is centered on entertainment. As far as I am concerned, if you do the right thing, no matter what you see on your way, you will truimph because the path to success is not straight.

Was acting your childhood dream?
“No. I picked it up along the way because of the attention an actress, Jennifer Oliseh was getting then in my neighbourhood. I wanted to be like her in every aspect because she was treated like a star. She actually brought me into the industry. I walked up to her boldly, indicated interest in acting and she took me to an audition. I featured in my first movie, Evil Genius, in 1997. From there, I moved from one audition to another getting roles and making myself a better person in the process. I dabbled into acting. My dream as a child was to become a banker because they were highly respected then and it seemed to fetch a lot of money and the good things of life.

Parents’ reaction
They didn’t like the fact that I was acting because I never told them initially. They found out through their friends and that infuriated them especially my father. He would always warn and beat me not to attend auditions or act anymore, but I just couldn’t stop.

Assessing the industry
I have lots of issues with Nollywood. The AGN crisis and the issue of poor storyline, as well as poor distribution framework drive me crazy. We don’t know if we are going forward or backwards or stagnant. We have to go back to the drawing board because we have missed it along the way. We also need to restructure to make a head-way. Right now, the industry wants to move whether we like it or not. We need good stories with tight storylines like some of the ones premiered last year. I was so proud to be a Nigerian after watching them.

Which movie brought you into the limelight?
Black Bra gave me prominence though it was not my first movie. To me, it was just one of the movies I acted. To others, they loved my role in the movie. They felt it was my best job.

How are you enjoying stardom?
What would one do? We just have to cope well. It is not attaining stardom that is the issue but maintaining it. It is nice to be a star and tough at the same time. People so much look up to you and monitor whatever you are doing. We don’t have private moments because we are under the beam all the time, but its cool all the same.

High and low moments
I wake up everyday and each time I do that, it is a high point for me. I am happy to be alive amidst all the problems in our society. My lowest point in life was when I lost my father because it left a vacuum in my family.”

Have you been attracted to an actor on set before?
No. Professionally, I don’t see it happening.

Do you believe in love?
“Yes, I do.

Are you in love now?
No.

Have you been in love before?
Yes, while growing up. It was an interesting experience because the guy was all that mattered then. Along the way, we both grew up and went our separate ways because it didn’t work out any longer.

How do you handle male admirers?
They used to come, but these days, I don’t even see them. The reason is that I am so engrossed with my projects including producing my own movies that I don’t have time for distractions of any kind. When you have opportunities to utilize in realizing your dream, the male aspect would have to wait.

Does it mean you don’t have time for a relationship?
Yes. Not now. Except the opposite sex is adding value to my life and my projects financially, mentally, with support and helpful contributions. Then, he would be very close to me on a platonic level and not for romance. Right now, all my energies are directed to making my projects a huge success. There were times I was romantically involved and it didn’t lead to marriage. I have left that part for now and when it happens later, I know I am moving to the next level.”

Would you act nude in a movie?
No. No matter the amount of money involved.

Has acting rewarded you financially?
Yes. I am also fulfilled as an actress. I can’t really do any other thing aside acting. I love entertainment and would study Entertainment Law in my masters programme. I would go into music production. I have a flair for good music because it is my first love. When it comes to music, I love being at the background giving constructive ideas rather than singing.

How much are you worth in a movie?
That means you are asking me to tell you how much I earn. I can’t do that because it is personal. It is enough to keep me going.

Growing up
It was interesting. My parents were loving but at the same time, quick to discipline us. I felt on top of the world because of the way my father and I got along. My siblings and I remember our growing days with joy because our home was filled with laughter.

What qualities thrill you in a man?
I love tall men who are real gentlemen. A caring man as well as one who will make his woman a better person.

Describe yourself in three words
Big, bold and beautiful.

Upcoming acts
They should have passion, be bold, focused and improve on the job. They should acknowlege God because they can’t be anything without Him.

Message to fans
I will always love them. There is never a ‘me’ without them.

Future plans
I want to get married, have kids and a good home. I want to reap the rewards of my labour with my children.

WANDE COAL BATTLES DON JAZZY OVER MONEY

The lovers of the internationally recognized entertainment outfit, Mo’ Hits Record solely owned by Don Jazzy were shocked to read about the fisticuffs currently rocking the entertainment house on the pages of newspapers last week. Wande Coal, the top hip hop sensational artiste is in the centre of the controversy as we gathered that he’s battle ready for any unexpected scenario that may come up afterwards should Don Jazzy fail to comply with his demands.

The Bumper-2-Bumper crooner, Wande, who is said to be so bitter at the moment over the breach in their contractual agreement, went to Don Jazzy and poured out his mind on how Mo’Hits has not been forth coming with their promises on the royalties for his bumper-2-bumper album. Don Jazzy, according to inside sources, felt so insulted that Wande whom he brought from Mushin to Mo’ Hits could be so bold enough to demand for unnecessary royalties from him. We were told that Don Jazzy said he didn’t owe him any royalties and that the company has been responsible for his image packaging, promotion and what have you. On this note, Wande, we learnt, got mad with such utterances and was alleged to have been so rude to Don Jazzy saying “I’m not D’Banj o, mine is different o”etc. the unsatisfactory reaction Wande got from Don Jazzy we learnt began the journey to their separation as the house was said to have been in total disarray with Don Jazzy keeping to himself.

Though, Wande with support of other Mo’Hits crew had rendered his unreserved apology to the don of the Mo’Hits Records, however, things, according to people in the know, may not be the same with Wande and Don Jazzy. As you are reading this, the smooth and cordial relationship that has existed between the young artiste and Don Jazzy is now been threatened. The manager of the outfit, Sunday Are’s number was not available when we called to seek for his opinion over the story.

Nigeria’s music star Kelly Hansome on D’banj, Wande and ‘Igwe’ controversial song

Nigeria’s lyrical afro-hip-hop superstar Kelly Hansome aka ‘Mr Maga’ whose latest roaring, controversial response to Wande Coal/D’banj/Mo’ Hits/ titled “Igwe kom kom” is rockin’ things has spoken about the musical “feud” he’s having with two of Nigeria’s biggest hip hop superstars D’banj, Wande Coal and their label Mo’ Hits records (Lagos).

The youthful pages of the web, youtube and social circles in Nigeria are reacting in hundreds of thousands to Kelly’s pointed, no-hold-barred musical response to Wande for singing ‘Who born the maga?’ and D’banj’s very popular ‘Igwe’ songs.

Kelly who made a courtesy visit to PhotoWorks.TV, CLASSmagazine and USAfrica multimedia networks’ Publisher Chido Nwangwu in Houston told him ”they crossed the line of cultural respect and tradition with their minimizing the meaning and what it takes to become an Igwe. It’s not ethnic, it’s about respecting every culture, be it Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Fulani, Efik or Tiv or anyone for that matter.”

When I reminded him that musicians and artistes can sing and write about any issues of their interest with decency or otherwise he countered that “I’m an artiste. I’m a musician but I’m born into tradition and culture and I do not disagree with the rights of musicians and artistes or anyone to free expression. That’s not my point. Remember that the great Fela, the great Chief Osadebe, the pioneer Ebenezar Obey, the durable Sunny Ade, Bright Chimezie, Morocco, Ayinde, even the much younger Tuface and Lagbaja and most if not all the major performers across Nigeria and Africa have shown such respect to traditional authority. Even for a musical performance you must respect fundamental aspects of our culture.”

Kelly Hansome believes and argues that “Wande and D’banj do not, apparently know that you don’t get the title of Igwe the same way you get a fashion or basic chieftaincy titles. That’s the thrust of my ‘Igwe kom kom’ song from my yet to be released single response to both D’banj’s Igwe and Wande’s attack on me which he called ‘Who born the maga?’ The latter being an obvious reference to me for my popular song ‘Maga don pay’… You know I’m known as Mr. Maga.”

When I asked him how the emerging disagreements, especially his strong but controversial musical response to Wande and D’banj are affecting their relationships, he add quickly: “it’s not affecting us. Chido, believe me, we’re all friends; it’s nothing personal. I stated and sang my principled position….” We are yet to confirm if Mo’ Hits, Wande and the world-famous D’banj feel the same way. The much-talked about single has been leaked on youtube.

He spoke about the rapper M.I, Tuface, other new artistes, youths and national development, why Nigerians should support the leadership of the country, his anti-4-1-9 plans, plus the first hints to USAfricaonline.com and CLASSmagazine about the release schedule of his new, sure-to-be-controversial album.

How to Get a Man to Fall in Love With You

All of us have at some point wanted to seduce that man we find irresistible. More than that, we've wanted that man to fall in love with us. It is important to understand that you can't make a man fall in love with you. You can however HELP him fall in love with you. This article will assume that you already know this man and that he knows and has some interest in you. If that is not the case, introduce yourself to him or figure out some way to make your existence known to him then follow the steps below to help him fall in love with you.

Things You'll Need:
* Confidence
* Sex Appeal
* Intelligence

Instructions:

Step 1

Always carry yourself with confidence. Hold your head high and never criticize yourself in front of a man and/or downplay your talents. For example if you've invited him to a party that you're hosting, don't criticize your own cooking or the place you call home. Don't constantly talk about the improvements you think you need to make. Instead talk about the things that make you happy, the things about you and your life you wouldn't change for the world. Do not apologize for who you are to anyone. Be confident, and happy and he will naturally be drawn to you.

Step 2

Never dumb down for any man. If he can't handle your brilliance, your higher paying job etc. move on immediately.

Step 3

Take care of your body. Looks are important. There is just no way around that. A man has to be attracted to you physically before he falls in love with you or is at least willing to spend some time with you. If you are not looking your best, or think you need to lose those pesky ten pounds start working out and eating healthy. Do not however announce this to him, you don't want to make it seem like you think you aren't good enough for him, instead do it quietly albeit with determination; like a lady. Taking care of your body will do wonders for your confidence, next thing you know you may have more suitors than you'll know what to do with.

Step 4

Be financially independent. A man will know instantly whether or not you see him as a meal ticket and will drop you like a bad habit. If he's smart, he'll dump you right after he has gotten into your pants.

Step 5

Do not talk about commitment on the first date, unless you don't want to have a second date with him. Commitment is something that arises naturally, once two people really get to know each other and are able to recognize how they compliment each other's lives. This process can not be hastened through endless "where is this relationship going" conversations. Meaning you can't verbally convince him that he should commit to you. What you can and should do is show him who you are and hope that you two are compatible. If time shows that you aren't compatible, you're actually much better off. Imagine the tears and money you'll save by not going through divorce in the future. Avoid the commitment talk like you would an STD. Never bring it up first. A man who loves you will commit to you. It will not be necessary for you to convince him that he should commit to you, he will figure that out on his own. If he doesn't, it's his loss and you should move on.

Step 6

Keep your dates light hearted and fun. Being with you should seem like a getaway. Like a fabulous vacation. He should never dread spending time with you regardless of what you're doing together; be it just spending an evening at home or going out. Don't be clingy and concentrate on yourself, your job, hobbies, friends and family. Always operate from the premise that you are a catch because you are, and there is no one else like you out there.

Step 7

Keep yourself educated and well informed. Read and keep up with events in the world. If all you can talk to him about is Sex and the City or American Idol you need to expand your horizons. Think about it this way; the country we live in is fighting two wars at the moment, a recession, we are in the midst of a historic presidential race etc., be able to carry a conversation on such topics. Remember that some of the world's most famous and effective seductresses (Cleopatra, George Sand, Lou Salome, Martha Gellhorn, just to name a few) were smart as hell. Do you remember Miss Teen USA 2007? Don't be her.

Step 8

Once you are sexually intimate, strive to blow his mind in bed. For tips on how to do that, read my articles on how to blow his mind in bed. Never apologize for and/or be ashamed of your sexuality. Instead embrace all aspects of yourself and he will embrace them and you too.

How to Get Your Man to Love You More than Ever

As much as we hate to admit it, relationships can reach a stale point and our men just don't act like they used to when we first met. It's not that he doesn't love you as much as he used to. It's just that life gets in the way and he needs a wake up reminder to "get it together". And, as women, we have the power to rekindle that spark that sets his heart ablaze. So, get your man to love you more than ever ladies. Let's begin.

Instructions

Step 1

Stop criticizing Mr. Right into thinking he's Mr. Wrong. Ok, so maybe your man isn't prince charming all the time but you probably aren't Cinderella all the time either. So, teat him more like your king more often and he'll remember that you are his queen. See the good in him and make him want to spend time with you. After all, there was a time when you thought your man was better than sliced bread so treat him like he is still is and watch your relationship improve dramatically.

Step 2

Show your man more love and affection. Just like us, men love to be loved and touched just like we do ladies. Therefore, when you see him, give him a warm and passionate embrace and kiss. Don't just hand him the baby and say, "Whew ... glad you're home - take this kid please". Instead show him some affection and then pass him the screaming kid. This will prove that you really do love him very much.

Step 3

Make time for him. You have to make your relationship a priority (no matter what). This means that you absolutely and positively must go out on regular date nights. If you can't afford to go to expensive places, just go out and have a cheap cup of coffee. And, while you're there don't talk about the kids the whole time. Concentrate only on him and his needs and he will gladly return the favor.

Step 4

Make romance a priority. Yes, romance can get mundane at times so spice it up ladies. You don't have to put yourself in a pretzel all the time but you should be open to trying new things and new positions on occasion. For instance, if you normally spend Saturday mornings vacuuming the house, sleep in and give him a little morning massage and romance while the kids watch cartoons. You'll both be glad you did.

Step 5

Encourage your man to get out more. Just like you must get away ladies, you should encourage him to get out too. Not only will this invigorate him but it will make it easier for you to get away when its your turn. Although togetherness is a good thing, you also need to be apart at times so the heart can grow fonder.

Step 6

Listen attentively. Don't just say "umm hmmmm" without even listening to him. Look into his eyes, repeat what he says and let him know that you really do care about his opinion. In return, he will open up more and discuss important issues with you.

Step 7

Stop being mean and grumpy all the time. Yes, you shouldn't stifle your feelings all the time but there are times when you should take a "time out" before making mean outbursts. This will prevent you from saying things you later regret. It will also strengthen your relationship.

Step 8

Ask for forgiveness and stop holding grudges. People make mistakes. It is not the end of the world. If you mess up and say something harmful, apologize. Don't be afraid to admit you're wrong. Instead, tell him that you're sorry and move on. If he does the same, forgive him and move on. After all, no one is perfect and a good relationship means forgiving and letting bygones be bygones.

Step 9

In conclusion, a successful marriage is hard work but is worth it. If your relationship is a bit stale ladies, you've got some work to do. However, if you put in the work, you will rekindle the love and passion that is hiding underneath all that distance. And your Prince Charming will be waiting for you with your glass slipper.

How to Make a Man mad while keeping your cool

Ever wanted to know how to get on a man's nerves, since they love to get on yours.

Instructions
Things You'll Need:

* Selective hearing

Step 1

When you and your man are arguing and it gets to the point of yelling just stop right in the middle of it! This really gets men because if their is silence then they know they were in the wrong, why you might ask because men are like two-year old they want things their way and they will resort to tantrums to do this.

Step 2

Don't say a word, and if he pulls the I'm leaving card then let him. Don't chase him because if you do then he'll have the control and that would mean he knows what to do to get you to apologize.

Step 3

Don't disappear go into another room keep going on with what your doing. If you have somewhere to go then go do it. The worst thing is for him to see that he has upset you.

Step 4

If you do go somewhere or have to leave then send him a text or write down a message saying have "Have a great day!" or "Missing you" this way he'll wonder if this is sarcastic or from the heart.

Step 5

WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T CRY OR PLEAD IF ANYTHING LEARN HOW TO GIVE HIM THE EVIL EYE!

I was never an angry person: Chris Brown

London, Dec 7 : Singer Chris Brown says he was shocked by his own violent behaviour in the bust-up that ended his romance with Rihanna as he has never lost his temper so badly before.

"I never ever had problems with anger. No domestic violence with any of my past girlfriends or any altercations. I was never that kind of person. Today, when I look at it and I ask myself - 'How could I be that person?',"

quoted Brown as saying.

"I was wrong for what I did and I would definitely say that it's not something that I look past or look over. Something that is really touchy. I am sorry for what went down and what happened," he added.

The singer was arrested in February after he assaulted Rihanna in a vicious fight following a pre-Grammy awards party. (IANS)
