Actor Jim Iyke In Fresh Controversy

Actor Jim Iyke is still swimming in the pool of drama his ex-girlfriend Tutupie pushed him into. And now, there’s yet another controversy that may well drown the scandal-prone actor.

NET investigations have revealed that, contrary to widespread belief that Iyke has adopted two kids from a Kaduna based charity which he is also funding, the actor has only ever given N40,000 to the home, and has not been there on visit in a very very long time.

Jim Iyke launched his debut music album (’Who Am I?) last year, promising to devote a large chunk of the proceed to the Adonai Orphanage home and Widows Centre run by Mrs Margaret Afuwape.

But, following allegations by Jim’s ex Tutu, that Jim never remmitted funds to the home, NET reporters took a trip to Kaduna, to find out whether Jim’s lover is telling lies in a desperate bid to get back at her ex; or the actor actually has skeletons in his cupboard.
Adonai is located at Salama Close, Gwari Avenue, Garnawa, in Kaduna. Running now for over 10 years, the orphanage is home to 38 children and 52 widows. And the proprietress Mrs Afuwape tells NET ”we’ve been surviving through the grace of God and the goodwill of religious institutions”.

”No Jim has not been sponsoring any child here; the only time he gave money to us was last year September when we went to Abuja for his foundation launch. He gave us N40,000 when we were returning and promised to give us more but we have not received anything from him because he said the people who pledged have not paid.

They said they were going to sponsor two children, I sent their names but up till now, we have not gotten a reply. So they have not sponsored anybody here”

”What he told us is that the people who pledged have not redeemed their pledge hence he can’t get money to us. When he doesn’t owe me money, I can’t force him. What are we to do then?”

Afuwape also adds: ”He visited us last in year 2005 and we have since moved to another place and Jim doesn’t even know our new place”

”He called two days ago January 29, 2010 and complained that I was telling people he gave the orphanage N40,000 and that he doesn’t care. He said he was very disappointed in me so I told him I couldn’t lie since I am a minister of God. I told him he has not been here to see us, he only sent his manager to invite us to Abuja last year that’s all”.

However, the now embattled Jim Iyke insists his hands are clean; very clean. Speaking through his publicists BigSam Media, Iyke explains: ‘‘We didn’t want to trade words with this lady but since it is an issue of integrity, we will be issuing a press release regarding the allegations that Jim has been diverting money meant for his orphanage. Jim never said he was raising money for an orphanage at his album launch. He only said he’ll be giving thirty percent of the proceedings at the album launch to the orphanage. Go back and listen to the tapes but unfortunately, most of the people who pledged have not redeemed their pledge”

”The likes of Terry Waya, Moses Oliseh , Don P and other influential Nigerians in Abuja (made pledges) but they have not given money to Jim. Even the lady in question Tutupie can testify that Jim sent her to Terry Wayas to inquire about the money he promised”, his spokesperson said.

Akon Sparks Riot In Sri Lanka

Four people have been injured at a Sri Lankan broadcaster's headquarters after Buddhist protesters campaigning against an upcoming Akon concert hurled rocks at the building.

Promoters of the R&B singer's April concert in the capital city of Colombo have come under fire from locals, who have taken offense to his video "Sexy Chick", which features groups of near-naked women dancing at a pool party in front of a Buddha statue.

Around 200 angry Sri Lankans gathered outside the head office of the Maharaja Organisation, which is sponsoring the star's gig, holding up posters reading 'Stop Akon's show', and demonstrating their fury by smashing windows and causing damage to cars parked outside the building.

Four network employees were hurt in Monday's riot, according to Maharaja boss Chevan Daniel.

Police have confirmed a number of the protesters were taken into custody, although it is not clear if they will face any charges.

Lil Wayne Banned From Signing Autographs In Prison

Incarcerated rapper Lil Wayne has reportedly been ordered not to sign any autographs during his time in jail.

The hip-hop star was sentenced to a year in prison on weapons possession charges this week and began serving his time at New York's Rikers Island prison on Monday.

However, officials at the institution have instructed the "Lollipop" hit-maker to avoid publicizing his celebrity status while he is in jail and banned him from signing autographs for other inmates, according to TMZ.com. A representative for the Correction Officer's Benevolent Association tells the website the decision was made because "Lil Wayne is not a celebrity in here.

How to Love Consciously

Knowing how someone wants to be loved and then providing that love are two separate things. Sometimes marriages and other relationships end because either one person does not understand how to love or meet the needs of the other; or one partner refuses to meet the needs of the other.
To love consciously is a choice. Mary Beth and I often say being married is very similar to having another full-time job – you get out of it what you put into it.
Our marriage is like a savings account. My wife and I make deposits into it never expecting we may need to make a withdrawal. However, when we do request a withdrawal there are no associated penalties.
Yes, we argue over the temperature in the car or who really forgot to feed the dog, but when it really matters; when it really counts, we make the consciousness choice to give each other the love that is requested and needed.
With over 23 years of marriage under our belts, we have found the following strategies work best to love intentionally; to love authentically and to love consciously.

Show Appreciation

A simple “thank you” in response to a trivial or ordinary item can make a significant difference. It only takes a few short moments to utter these two words, but the impact can be felt for a very long time.
Showing gratitude is also the best strategy for ensuring the things you are most grateful for continue to happen. When we stop and tell our partners what we are grateful for, we are also telling the Universe. By making the effort, the conscious decision, to express our thanks we are in a better position of receiving more of it in the future.
If you want your partner to be grateful, it starts by you showing gratitude, first.

Be Happy, Not Right

Here’s a question for you, “Would you rather be right, or happy?” Too often our pride and egos can keep us from enjoying intimate relationships. We stew over what we think are injustices, but are perhaps only misunderstandings.
We carry grudges and do not show enough grace, passion or forgiveness to the person we care most about. Our need to be right can overshadow our need to receive, and give, love.
Take a look at what your pride is costing you. If intimacy is strained and the relationship is off track you may want to reconsider the value of your anger or self righteousness. Here’s the thing: You may be right in the argument although you partner thinks otherwise, but you will never be wrong when you put your partner first. Happiness always feels better than vindication.

Michael Jackson Music Deal Shatters Records

Michael Jackson just scored the biggest contract in music history and he's not even alive to see it - one that could be worth up to $250 million with incentives.
His estate will earn $200 million guaranteed for 10 projects in seven years. The landmark contract extends through 2017 and could pay his estate much more.
One of the albums will be of never-before-released Jackson recordings that will come out in November. Enough unreleased material may exist for 2-3 albums.
Projects may also include a video game, a DVD compilation of videos and a re-release of Off the Wall, Jackson's fifth studio album, which debuted back in '79.
Before Jackson's tragic death in June at age 50, he wanted to re-issue the album, people familiar with the deal said. Now he's getting his wish, posthumously.
One project already counted in the contract was a two-disc album that accompanied This Is It, the film based on footage of Jackson's 2009 concert rehearsals.
Perfecto
Michael Jackson announcing the 2009 This Is It tour.
Including the more than 5 million copies of that special release, Jackson sold some 31 million albums since his death, about two-thirds of them outside the U.S.
"During his life, Michael's contracts set the standard for the industry," said John Branca, the co-administrator of the Jackson estate, in a statement Tuesday.
"By all objective criteria, this agreement with Sony Music demonstrates the lasting power of Michael's music by exceeding all previous industry benchmarks."
The landmark contract is worth more than all other benchmarks, such as the deals Live Nation signed with Madonna at $120 million and Jay-Z for $150 million.
Jackson's deal is more remarkable because it does not include royalties from merchandise, and comes at a time of widespread decline for the industry.

The world's embattled top golfer, Tiger Woods, announced today that he's planning his golf comeback at the year's first major championship, The Masters, in April. It will mark Woods' return to golf action for the first time since a 9-iron was wielded by his crazed wife after his many infidelities were exposed Thanksgiving eve.
Tiger announced the news on his website: "The Masters is where I won my first major, and I view this tournament with great respect. After a long and necessary time away from the game, I feel like I'm ready to start my season at Augusta."
"The major championships have always been a special focus in my career and I think Augusta is where I need to be, even though it's been awhile since I last played."
Woods has already started prepping for his return with Ari Fleischer behind the scenes, and briefly alluded to his ongoing rehab and reconciliation with Elin Woods, saying:
"I have undergone almost two months of therapy, and am continuing treatment. While I'm returning to competition, I still have a lot of work to do in my personal life."
Tiger, who did not have a return date in his recent press conference, added in today's post that it became "apparent that the Masters would be the earliest I could play."
"I called both Joe Lewis and Arnold Palmer and expressed regret for not attending the Tavistock Cup and the Arnold Palmer Invitational. I want to thank them for their support. Those are fantastic tournaments I look forward to competing in again.
In conclusion, Woods thanked the people ofThe Masters: "I would also like to thank the Augusta National members and staff. I have deep appreciation for everything that they do to create a wonderful event for the benefit of the game."
The Masters begins on April 8. We wouldn't bet against him.
